After the beautiful weather we left yesterday morning in Longview, we are surprised in what we are finding down here. Yesterday as we were driving, we started hearing about the rain (record amounts) California was having. Southern Oregon was beautiful with temperatures in the 60’s. It was cloudy in Grants Pass when we stopped last night and we woke up to pouring rain last night. This morning as we headed out, it was wet and drizzly. The mountains were cold and it was very foggy. As we paid more attention to the weather we found our first choice route through Bakersfield was very stormy with a tornado in the area yesterday, so we decided to cut across at Sacramento. The closer we got to Sacramento today, we heard more about the rain they were having along with flooding. We altered our course again, taking Historic Hwy 99 from Red Bluff through Chico, finally ending up here in Oroville tonight. There is lots of evidence of the rain that they have had here also, as the rivers are full to the brim. This afternoon was pretty nice here when we arrived.
We are staying in a nice KOA park next to an Indian casino. We stopped here to eat at the casino and the park looked so nice, we thought that this would be a good place to call it a day. They gave us a bunch of coupons when we checked in so we got a discount on our dinner. Some of the best ribs I have had. Lots of different flavors. And lots of deserts. On top of that they gave us some "Magic Money". With that Darlene won $20 after putting $1 in and I won $10. Being the big spenders that we are, we went back to the trailer to spend the night with Gracie.
We are having a great time (belly full, a great parking place, money in our pocket and a wi-fi internet connection).
